Short Eared Owls are a medium sized owl. About the size of a crow. They like to hunt small mammals at dawn, dusk and even during the day.
Resting on a tree stump, this short eared owl is surprised by the rustling of a near by rodent. Listening and looking steadily with Golden Mother of Pearl and Black Pen Shell eyes. His beak is inlaid with Black Pen Shell. The talons, feathers and head are burnished to give color and detail.
