Grandmothers are a font of Love, Knowledge and Wisdom. She often takes it upon herself to make sure no one in the family goes hungry, worries if everyone is taken care of, looks after the children and teaches them the traditions along the way. She is the present connection to the past and the integral part of a Puebloan family.
A hand carved Elk Antler Pueblo Maiden fetish wearing a traditional shawl. Her hair is perfectly incised, her eyes are inlaid with Black Jet pigment with a red Mediterranean Coral mouth. Her necklace is inlaid with a single stone of Sleeping Beauty turquoise. Her belt is inlaid with blue Lapis stones and the hem of the dress is detailed. A shawl featuring an incised pattern- decorated with stars of Red Pipestone pigment, dragonflies of Black Jet pigment and accents of Sleeping Beauty turquoise. Incised pattern with fringe burnished for contrast. Her moccasins are carved to show the traditional white buckskin wraps. The soles are burnished for contrast.
