
A Zuni Olla Maiden paying homage to her female ancestors, who used similar vessels to carry water from the Zuni River to use in their homes and water their crops.

A hand carved Olla Maiden fetish with Olla Jar and incredibly sculpted traditional Zuni regalia from a single tine of Elk Antler.
The Olla Jar is carved atop the maiden with finely detailed hair, and designed with traditional pottery motif of Black Jet and Red Pipestone pigment. Inlaid stones of bright green Serpentine, red Mediterranean Coral, blue Lapis and Sleeping Beauty Turquoise embellish the jar.
Her eyes are inlaid with Black Pen Shell and a red Mediterranean Coral mouth. Strands of red Mediterranean Coral with three drops- a Japanese Angel Skin Coral, a Mediterranean Coral and a Kingman Turquoise adorn her necklace.
Carefully carved hands are framed with the sleeves of a traditional Native Woman's Dress and sit atop a sash belt, inlaid with green Serpentine pigment and a blue Lapis stone. The front of her dress is finished with a traditional cotton lace apron with Lapis pigment detail and inlaid green Serpentine & red Mediterranean Coral flower motifs.
On her back she wears a traditional embroidered cape complete with lace ruffle detail and inlaid with Mediterranean Coral & Sleeping Beauty Turquoise flowers. Red Pipe Stone pigment detail for the hem of her skirt.
Her white moccasins are carved to show case traditional white leather wraps and and inlaid with Sleeping Beauty Turquoise. The soles are burnished for contrast.
