Snow Owls are large, white Arctic owls with yellow eyes. There feet are feathered for warmth. They hunt small mammals like lemmings and voles. They breed on the tundra and migrate South into Canada and the Northern U.S. during winter. Large numbers of Snow owls appearing in waves are called "irruptions". They are diurnal, which means they are active during the day. They are known for their silent hunting and distinctive appearance.
