Pueblo children are taught spoken prayer in their native language by their elders, through stories and lullabies.
A hand carved Elk antler maiden with incised hair detail, eyes are incised and inlaid with Black Jet pigment. The mouth is inlaid with red Mediterranean Coral. Her necklace is highlighted by a single stone of blue Lapis. Her belt is inlaid with Sleeping Beauty Turquoise and the dress detailed with an incised hem. Her shawl is inlaid with red Mediterranean Coral. The Dragonflies are inlaid with Black Jet pigment and stars of Red Pipestone pigment. The fringe is burnished for contrast. The moccasins are carved to show the traditional white buckskin wraps and the soles burnished for contrast.
