Northern Pygmy Owls are diurnal hunters. Which means, they hunt during the day. They eat small mammals like voles, large insects and small birds. They may even hunt in backyard feeders in the winter. They can also hide extra prey to eat later.
A hand carved Elk Antler Pygmy Owl inlaid with Gold Lip Mother of Pearl and Black Pen Shell eyes with a beak of Gold Mother of Pearl. The chest streaks are inlays of Red Pipe Stone pigment. The talons, feathers, head and edges of the face are burnished to give detail.
