The Yellow Corn Maiden represents the cardinal direction North. The color Yellow represents Courage. She is imbued with the Purpose of Healing and the Power of Protection.
The Zuni Corn Maiden is a traditional carving of a female figure symbolizing Fertility, Abundance and life-giving sustenance. This figure represents powerful Feminine Energy that nurtures growth and manifests Blessings.
A traditional Zuni Corn Maiden, hand carved from Elk Antler with incised bangs, inlaid eyes of Black Jet pigment and mouth of red Mediterranean Coral.
Her necklaces are inlaid with red Mediterranean Coral with Kingman turquoise and blue Lapis stones.
The kernels of corn are inlaid Gold Mother of Pearl. Her traditional shawl is designed with geometric patterns and motifs (Star and Dragonfly) inlaid with green Serpentine, Black Jet, blue Lapis and Red Pipestone pigment.
Patterns are then inlaid with blue Lapis, red Mediterranean Coral, Sleeping Beauty turquoise and lime green Serpentine.
The fringe on her shawl is burnished for contrast and to highlight the fine detail.
