Corn is the life source of the Zuni people. The Corn Mothers provide it from their flesh. They embody Mother Earth and femininity. The Zuni people speak of the Corn Mothers in there prayers, ceremonies and stories.
A double sided Deer Antler Corn Maidens with Black Jet pigment eyes and Mediterranean Coral mouths. They wear a shawl over the head to symbolize mother/grandmother hood. The ones that teaches the younger generations the knowledge they carry. The design on the shawl are symbols of soft rain coming down with inlays of Mediterranean Coral drops and star symbols with Red Pipe Stone pigments. Blue Corn with inlays of Sleeping Beauty Turquoise and the other is a multi-color corn with inlay of Lapis, Sleeping Beauty Turquoise, Mediterranean Coral and Black Pen Shell. The fringe is burnished to give color.
