A powerful symbol to Hunters, Bobcat is imbued with the ability to aid Hunters in their pursuit of prey and also assisting in fair hunting conditions for its bearer.
A traditional Bobcat carved in the likeness and 3D rendering of an Old Style depiction of a Bobcat motif taken from an Altar Pottery, which was excavated and reclaimed from the ruins of the Hawikuh- one of the seven ancient cities that surrounds present day Zuni Pueblo.
In this case, Elk Antler was used as the main medium instead of traditionally foraged paints and was hand carved into a traditional bobcat fetish. The eyes are inlaid Sleeping Beauty Turquoise and pigments of green Serpentine, Black Jet and Red Pipestone are used to create the bobcats' spots. Black Jet pigment to resemble fur. Burnished ears and tail for for contrast.
